Use the search feature. Many threads on prices and results. AI is the current budget favorite here on tech.

Give us a shout. We have numerous options available for porting your heads or we can get you into new castings for very reasonable prices and performance on par or better than our competitors' offerings.

I would tend to disagree there.....

I did alot of research on this subject a few months ago. AI is one of the most expensive porting options out there for stock heads. A set of their heads will run you into the $2K arena. TEA is about the same. Of course there are bigger names out there is about the same price range.

I know you have heard or seen this alot, but you really cant beat Texas Speed Perf's PRC heads.

You can get complete CNC ported heads with bigger SS valves and springs for around $1500
Labor and Upgraded parts to your existing heads is what $1500 will get you from the other known names and you supply the castings.
.

Very subjective on who's heads flow better, like expected the guys who payed more for their work will say theres are the best.

My advice would be to get a budget and go from there.

AI is $1200 for the porting including springs. The $2000 is a cam and head porting package which includes everything you will need for the heads and cam swap.

That does depend on the option. Are you referring to their full CNC or basic rebuild?

Full CNC is $1000
Which they are not giving you new spring, valves, retainers etc.

Add that all in and your looking at $1500, not to mention if your cores need some addtional work.

Or.... You could buy a prc ls6 head and not worry about a core charge or waiting to get them back...

I would just go with the prc ls6 heads, there a steal for what they are, the only way i would pay to have any heads done at ai is if i got a set of 243 under 300 bucks, tsp hands down imo, less hassle and they can have everything ready to go so when the get to your door you can just slap them on

Ed Curtis at Flowtech Induction. He's not a sponsor, so I can't post his prices, but for under $1,500 you get fully ported 243/799 heads that come complete with springs, retainers, etc. Basically, all you need to bolt on and go. His work speaks for itself.

I think the proper way it needs to be states is "Who does the best porting for heads that I can afford?"

Then the real question is "How much money do you have?"

All depends on budget and what your planning on doing. Personally would not sink any money on Small Bore heads. When I get a LS2 or better block "See 4.000" Bore. Then you spend money. Also IF you needed to sell you have something people may want.

Just IMO.

Subjective, My LS1 is brand new so investing in my small bore engine/heads is worth it as it will be under my hood for a while.

Interesting thread. I've been looking at some ported 317's or aftermarket. Patriot's seem hard to beat for the price. TSP PRC's are slightly more expensive and flow similarly. AI seems expensive and you have to send your heads off, considering I could get the first two without a core charge and sell my existing heads. I kind of question the exhaust flow on the AI's. Their 232cc job says they flow 274 @ .600" which is way above even the TFS/AFRs.

Those exhaust numbers would have to be with a pipe....which is just one of many variables that make it very difficult to compare heads online.

Your absolutely right that it is subjective but building a short block and I have done it a few times that the cost difference is minor to go bigger once you go to a LS2 block or better. LS1 need re sleeving which for most its easier to just go LS2+ So If I spent major money now and may or may not see a worthwhile gain to make it worth the time.

If I really wanted a set of the heads for the street cam I have (228/230 @112) I would go look for a used set and pay as little as I can, upon successful inspection, set it up for new springs and go.

Like said subjective and your point is just as valid, it all depends on what someone is willing to spend.

I half think about a max effort stock cube cam, or heads, or 150 shot... plenty of options.
