Guys.....I couldn't resist.

I saw the OP's original post and this video I recently saw came to mind and it was too perfect not to post.

I didn't mean to completely sideline the OP's genuine tech related question so for all of you that still have some good advice for him please post away!!

It is funny as **** (the video) and its something that any guy that wrenches had to get a laugh from!

I did mine out of the bottom and it was hella easy!!!! I had my front bumper off also so I could pull the engine by the sway bar with trans still attached and wheels still on the suspension. Good luck bud

It will but it's better to just pull them apart and bring the tranny out the bottom..Happy hooker plate makes all the diff.

The transmission is coming off the bottom... The engine out the top.
Theres a lot of little things in the way... Right now there's a sensor by the starter that's being difficult.

While engine is out, change your heater hoses - not a lot of money and far easier with all the extra space.

Now, shouldn't that video be posted in "External Engine"?
Oddly, right after the video was completed, YTube offered up another video about disinterring bodies at a graveyard!

It took a day longer then I thought it would but I finally did get the old LS1 out!
The engine came out the top with the car on big truck jackstands.. no issue.
The transmission is completely unbolted but it is being held up under the car on stands.
There was no point in removing the transmission though... just letting it sit there securely on stands is good enough.
Looking forward to swapping over everything onto the LQ9 and getting this thing running now.
It'll be a few weeks I'm sure...

Is this LQ9 stock or "massaged"?

The LQ9 is plenty strong in stock form.
