Default TSP cam selection

Looking for some input here. I'm a noob with engine internals for the most part, but I'd like to cam my car within the next year or two and I'd like to see what everyone thinks would be the best cam for my specific application. I've contacted a few guys at TSP but haven't received any responses from them yet after a week.

I am looking at 3 different TSP cams. The 224R, 228R, and the Torquer V2.

I'm not 100% sure what my long term plans are for the car but current mods are ARH LT's, ARH ORY, Borla catback, SLP lid, BMR LCA's, Poly MMs. I plan on doing more suspension work for sure as well as add a torque converter, something like a 3400-3600 from a sponsor. Leaning towards FTI or Circle-D. I currently have a stock 10 bolt with 2.73 gears. I plan on eventually getting either a 9" or S60 with 3.50-3.73 gears and a built 4L60E from FLT or RPM. Not sure if I'll swap to an LS6 or FAST manifold. I may eventually do a head swap and/or a smaller nitrous kit, like a 75-125 shot.

The car is mostly a street car, maybe 50-100 miles in a typical week. I don't plan many trips to the track, maybe 5 trips max a year. I'd want it to be streetable which I know depends on the cam specs and the tune and I'd like to make peak power slightly lower in the RPM range so I don't have to rev the car that high. I plan on setting shift points to 6200rpm and limiter to 6500 (maybe 6300 and 6700 if its safe to do so).

Looking at the 3 cams I've mentioned, they all seem pretty similar to me so I wanted to get your input and see if you could differentiate them for me a little bit better.

Thanks

Call Eps or Pat G and have them spec something out for your needs. You'll be happier!

I shift my 228r at 6500rpm.Its a very streetable dd cam.Makes very good midrange power/torque.I wish I went Tv2 sometimes for a lil more topend but if you are doing full exhaust/ls6 or better intake, and some head work the 228r and the tv2 are very stout cams.Tune will make all the difference on how well perform and streetable they can be.Both should be relatively easy to tune.

Your current rearend is not going to help you for now though.I have 3.23 gear and my 228r cam is sluggish below 2000rpm but winds up the mph.Tv2 would be better with a 3.73 gear imo auto..should make a very fun car with a stall aswell.

Call EPS. The cam I have in my sig is a very good cam that seems to be a normal spec out for him. Do a youtube search or on here for this cam. I have also seen some of Pat Gs cams do very well. Call and talk to someone they would be more than willing to help.

None of them yet. I'm doing the converter in a couple weeks. Then I'm holding off on car mods to buy a house probably and I'll save up and do a bunch of things at once. Since I made this thread I found the H/C package offered by Vengeance Racing with Trick Flow heads and a VRx cam. I was thinking about going with that instead of a TSP. If I go TSP it will be a 228R.

I had TSP make me a custom cam built to my specs. Within the range of the cams that you are posting up. Talk to them, they will have no issues doing it!

Out of those cams, go with the Torquer 2. I think the torquer 2 is a good size cam and probably the biggest cam i would run in a DD, fun street car.
