You used new bearings and rings?! It would be more "Junkyard style" to have used stuff that was already "broken-in" and pretested. Thats not so Junkyard Dog as it may seem, especially with the numbers its making!
BTW my 346 (warranty piston slapper!) is getting some used 12K mile oil-burning rings from a C5 I did when I worked for GM! (well only the 2nd compression ring and oil expander ring were used, the rest is brand new) I talked myself out of reusing the bearings though, I do have some good values. I haven't decided if I'll fix the piston slap, it doesn't bother me if it did.
So pretty soon I will have a stock bottom-ended piston slapping and oil burning ***** 346, and I don't see any reason why it shouldn't be that way!

I posted the build up pics above, but here they are for those too lazy to scroll up: lol
ARP rod bolts
Motor Assembled
LS6 piston w/ valve reliefs
Valve reliefs
Piston tray
Checking piston to valve clearance
Motor ready for install
All done!
The compression ratio is around 11.8:1 with the valve reliefs and the thicker '02 MLS head gasket.

Jason, I coupla Qs if you dont mind:
The pistons look used, what were they in that needed the clearance? Reason being, is cause the valve pockets look old...am I seeing things
Also, I noticed that you have the entire harness on the motor. Why? Make life easier for you? I mean, youre a pro at this stuff now
TIA

fly by, the pistons were used in CamminBeaSSt's car. He was running the ASA cam with heads milled .050". He is having a 346ci motor built by Futral Mtrsports and no longer needed them. He was nice enough to give them to me for a nice price.
The entire engine harness comes out with the motor. I have found this easier to do it this way. Just remove the PCM, undo all the connectors on the passenger side fender, and the 2-3 connections (depending on year model) inside the car under the pass. side kick panel. Then, the entire harness come out with the motor. Don't forget to undo the few misc. grounds on the passenger side (battery) and driver's side (block to body). I have had the motor out of the car in less than 45 minutes, with another person helping.
Here some other pics of the engine harness:

It is much easier to just lay it over the engine/trans assembly and route/plug everything in outside of the car. The cool thing is, except for the lack of A/C and coil brackets on Jason's car, you would never know the engine has been out!!!
