Default rear oil plug depth

I installed my rear oil plug lastnite and the depth ended up being .060. The manual said .031-.055. Well I tapped it one last time and it went a lil too deep. Is this going to hurt the engine? The engine is still on the stand so I can take it apart if I need to.

If you can, pop it back out and gently slide it back in and measure....if there is any damage or wear marks on your old one go ahead and pick up a new one

This is a new one. I had a time getting old one out. Is there a method to taking them out? Also, it was a pain to drive in. What am I doing wrong? Or are they just that hard to get in and take out?

Take the two galley plugs out that are on the bottom drivers side back of the block "I think its the far most rear one" you can stick a small pick up in there and give a little pry and the barbell should pop right out....did you out it in right? If I remember it is stepped and the one end is slightly bigger than the other end

Well I finally got around to trying to fix my oil plug problem. I put a pick up through the oil gally plug hole and pried on it. It wouldn't budge. So, I attempted to pry it out (not easy to do). Here is a pic of it after I pulled it out. Do ya think it messed up driving it in the hole. I could pop the plug in the hole fairly easy. Setting the depth was the difficult part. I couldn't hardly get it to budge. Am I doing something wrong when installing it? Also, will I need to replace the rear cover gasket since I had to remove it to get to th oil plug? It's brand new, the engine hasn't been fired yet.

Looks like a casting flaw, I'd snag a new one that's not deformed...
