Default Ls1 spun rod bearing

98 ls1 spun rod bearing debating rebuild my block or grab a 6.0 lq9 short block and put new rings bearings and arp rod bolts

My budget is about 1000-1500 for the short block

And I don't think I can reuse my factory crank it got ate up pretty good

If that is your budget, then I wouldn't think about a new block. You can buy a GM crank around here for a good price and get a forged rotating assembly i.e. rods, rod bolts, pistons w/rings, for about 1400 bucks. You probably scarred the cylinder walls so I would have them machined out to a 347 c.i. and adjust as needed.

You can get a low mileage LQ4 for ~800 then use the extra funds for cam/springs/pushrods. There's a company called LKQ that has good deals on engines, and you can source the other parts I mentioned in the classifieds on here.

Also was wondering what you guys would do this car was just bought motor was STOCK
Everything that I was told had a rebuilt motor in about 10000 miles I tore the complete motor apart and The 5 rod bearing was spun all the way in the crank almost as one piece it got the crank pretty good but cylinder walls look perfect and I can see the cross hatch the full length off the sleeve

What machine work do you think is needed can I just put a dial bore gauge on it and buy new set of pistons and file fit rings

Im paranoid about that kind of stuff so regardless of how it looked, I would still have a shop look it over but thats just me. Anytime you spin a bearing, that rod/piston is going to have some sort of play in the cylinder wall.

U can see on the top of piston 5 where it slapped the head it's barely noticeable and hardly left a mark on the head but I'll prolly send it all the machine shop
