If you're interested I have a tsp 233/239 with only 200 miles on it. Only reason I want to sell is due to ptv clearance w new heads. Stock heads are fine. Lmk if interested.

I know some guys are making pretty good power with the stock LS7 and LS9 cams on stock without having to spend 400 on a custom grind. But I don't know about 400.

IIRC LS7 and LS9 cams will not fit Gen 1 LS1.

I'd jump up to a 4,000 stall first, before you go with a bigger cam.

Converter is way to small IMO. I would also get a 4000. A 228/232 is a freakin awesome daily driver cam.

OP, we can get you set up with a camshaft that will match that converter. Are you looking to keep that converter, or are you interested in going with a higher stall speed? Did you already have a camshaft in mind?

What? Why 4000? You don't even know anything about the car? Why would you spec that high of a stall speed lmao

I have had cams from all 3 of those vendors. I think for your particular application with a very mild converter the TSP 228r or the vengeance VRX3 would be a good choice. I would not recommend Thunder Racing at this point. There customer service has gotten terrible. I ordered a cam from them at the end of last year and after 2 months of getting the run around I had to cancel my order. I ended up getting a cam from Vengeance.

My car made 391RWHP with 341 heads, and excellent street manners.

A 4,000 stall is not "that" big....if he is looking for a bigger cam, then it only makes sense to go with a higher stall first....unless he wants a car with a prayer cam that performs like a dog, will not want to idle, and push through the brakes....trust me I know what I am talking about.

228R here. If you go with something like the 228R you don't necessarily have to go with something stalled quite so high. You could do 3200. I went with Yanks 3600ss, but that's just me. ha

I'm with the others, the tsp228r is a good choice. I would get a 9.5" or 10" 3400rpm torque converter from one of the sponsors. CircleD, FTI, etc..

A 3200rpm would be okay if it was a smaller diameter such as a 9.5 or 10" converter. I'd try to get a 3400-3600 imo though.
