A 4,000 stall is not "that" big....if he is looking for a bigger cam, then it only makes sense to go with a higher stall first....unless he wants a car with a prayer cam that performs like a dog, will not want to idle, and push through the brakes....trust me I know what I am talking about.

Oh yeah? It's going to push through the brakes if it doesn't have a 4k stall? No, it's not. It wouldn't push through the brakes with a 2200 stall. And no, I'm not going to trust that you know what you are talking about. I don't even know you. Explain to me why you would chose a 4k stall speed for that application. What are you even basing your recommendation off of? Also, "it only makes sense to go with a higher stall"? You don't even know what he's doing with the car so how could you possibly know if it would be better or worse?
The last cam posted was a 233/239, I do know what I am talking about snd i gsve my educated opinion on this. Now that I have and stand by my opinion I really don't care what he or you it anyone else decides.
Go do some reading, then go try a few cams and different size stalls instead of jumping on hete and giving people a blast of ****.

I started out with a 220/224 baby cam and a 2,800 stall. With full, but loud exhaust when I took it to the track you could "hear" the cam come onto It's power well after 2,800 rpms...around 3,500-3,600 rpms. Then swapped to a 3,600 stall and it made a world of difference in off the line acceleration...and that was just a baby cam. I personally then jumped to a 238/242 with a 4,000 stall and ran absolutely great as a daily driver....also have a few friends that are running 228-low 230 cams and 4,000 stalls and also daily drive them.
I would even recomend a 3,500-3,600 stall in a stock canned car.
A lot of the cammed autos that have drivability issues with bucking and pulling are due to being over canned/ under stalled...I do agree that with higher stalls you do get more heat and wear but this can be solved by running a good cooler and high quality stall like Yank or a few others.
Sorry for getting defensive earlier Ethan...its been a long week already lol

I can agree that its not ideal for most, but it really all comes down to the driver's preference. Some guys call up with daily drivers that have a 4000 converter and love it, then you have others that have smaller 2800 converters and think its way too much for the street.
The good thing about the cars with transmissions that have overdrive and lockup, is that when you reach a certain speed and gear the converter clutch will lock up and you wont have your rpms near as high as when its unlocked.
I personally daily drove a z28 with a ms4 and 4000 converter, and liked it. The only "disadvantage" was mileage in town went down 4-5 miles per gallon, but I only saw 1-2 mpg loss on the highway because of lockup.

Not saying that it's completely impractical. I have plenty of friends running huge stall converters. I just get tired of getting on this forum and seeing every telling less experienced people "DERP YOU ABSOLUTELY NEED A 4k STALL AND NOTHING ELSE". It's retarded lmao.
