Default Blowby Causing Oil to turn Black, Re-ring?

So my motor has 3000 miles on it, oil turns black pretty darn quick and dissapears. I would say 1 quart 500 miles, oil is black by then.

So I had the streetsweeper cam in for 20,000 miles, towards the end before I took the lifters and cam out, black smoke came out the tail pipe, left black all over my garage floor.

I rebuilt the motor, all new bearings, pistons, cam and redid the heads, see sig for mods. Now I was told I could drive it on the tune, so I put 300 miles on it, got it to the dyno, put new injectors in, ran pig rich, tuned afr in and took it home. It was down on power 370 rwhp. I ended up finding crap in the injectors, cleaned them took it back and had it retuned, put number in sig.
So I now drove it 1500 miles like this.

I assume I have to pull the motor and rering it, is there a way to do this without taking the whole motor back out?

Sounds like its running rich to me, whats your afr look like during normal driving?

If it does need new rings, it technicly could be done in the car, but its much easier to just pull the engine and do it on a stand.

I am not sure on the AFR, it was tuned by Mike at New Era, a sponsor. Will a leakdown test determine if its the rings? If so how do you perform one?

A leak down test should do the trick, but I have never done that so I can't answer that. Was the tune a mail order or was he actually in the car with a laptop tuning it?

He was in the car. The first time I went, they installed the new injectors, paint from my rails that I painted got into the injectors, it was pig rich, he tuned around it and I took it home. I figure out my problem after a couple days of searching. I brought it back after I put some more miles on it, he put it on the dyno and retuned. It actually was running real good both times and didnt need too much tuning.

A simple compression test will determine rings or not. Do all 8 dry, then put a little oil in the cylinders to see if that brings compression numbers up. If it gains an average of 15 percent or more, your rings are shot.

You ruined the motor by not breaking it in properly. A motor cannot be driven 300 miles easy and expect the rings to seat properly. ESPECIALLY if its rich.......you "gas washed" the cylinders while the rings were new....which keeps the rings from being able to seat.

You need to re-hone and re-ring it. Then break it in properly......HARD dyno runs as soon as you start it up. After 5-6 dyno pulls, you're all done, its 100% broken in. Go have fun.

This happened to me on a brand new LSx 434ci. It was rich for its first bunch of miles....burned 1 qrt every 300-500 miles. It was a joke. I had to re-hone and re-ring...then broke it in exactly as described in the link below. It was perfect for its life, zero oil burn.

He said he put the new injectors in when he got to the dyno.

The new motor should also have gotten oil changes at 50, 100, 150, 200, 300 and 1000 miles.......regular non-synthetic oil.

I changed it at 200, like engine builder said, then probably 1000, its has 3000 miles and has been changed like 5 times.
