Can you get a custom cam to work with ls6 springs?
I'm wondering if anyone makes a custom cam that is easy enuf on springs like the hotcam, asa cam, or ls6 cam, but will make more power. Basicly something cut the same way as the ls6 cam, but using more duration. LIke a 228/228 duration and .550 .550 lift? Is this possible?

Whether LS6 springs are considered reliable depends on your perspective. Based on the number of broken LS6 spring threads I have an encountered, particularly on the Corvette forum, I would have changed mine out even if I had not gotten a different cam.

I think you would be fine with the mild CompCams, Xtreme RPM lobes.
Imo, would still consider better valve springs, Comp, PAC, ....

You can also run any of the gm cams, except the Grand am cup cam...along with several other shelf grinds...
hotcam = 219/228 .525/.525 112
ASA = 226/236 .525/.525 110
There is also a Comp cams shelf grind that is very popular with trucks...its duration is like 212/218 or so with around .520 lift on both sides.

When you add up all of the actual costs to change a cam and springs, to limit yourself right off the bat isn't fiscally sound. A cam like a 224r and comp 918 springs will last indefinitely. It will make WAY more power and be just as reliable than a cam with LS6 springs, maybe even more reliable.

whats your budget and power goals ?if you want to beat the world with a ls 1 ,you need a cam that will make more power then a stock GM cam can offer .check out any Pat-G cam thread to see what a ls1 motor can do with the right cam.its all about cam lobes design.will any mechanical engineers please chime in.
