Default Pushrod Length

I ordered a set of PRC Stage 2.5 5.3 heads and a 224R with a 114 Lsa from TSP. The heads will be milled to 60cc. Will be running stock crank, pistons, rods and I believe a stock size head gasket. I had the guy at TSP guess on push rod length and said 7.35. Has anyone else run this set up and know the proper push rod length? I have a push rod length checker coming to but I would prefer not to have to send the push rods for exchange. They havnt shipped yet so I can still switch. I am also running stock rocker that will be rebuilt with the comp cams kit. Thanks.

Read what OP wrote. TSP person GUESSED. You do not guess, you MEASURE.

^Agreed we always recommend customers measure. If asked we will give our best estimate, but just like it says its our estimate, and we make it very clear.

Thanks for the responses. TSP was very helpful. I asked Jake from TSP to guess the best he could for me. I just figured I wasn't the first one to run this combo.

Since TSP is involved and you bought the adjustable pushrod, just have them wait on shipping the pushrods. It might be a couple extra bucks to have them shipping once you measure but at least you will only ship once as compared to having to return parts.

If your luck is the same as mine, anybody's "guess" won't be correct.

Use the checker then order the right length after checking the wipe pattern.

easy way to get push rod length: Measure camshaft base circle. Most likely it will be the same as OEM. compare gasket thickness to OEM. see how many .001" the heads were milled. Subtract all the new measurements from OEM measurements and then subtract that number from 7.400. done and done lol

LOL IS RIGHT, that method is as bad as guessing. MEASURE P-ROD LENGTH WITH A CHECKER.

I agree! For as many time as this topic comes up, I'm suprised people still ask...

FWIW TSP told me the stock 7.4 pushrods should work with my combo (They did tell me to measure tho). When I actually measured, I needed 7.375".

You never know....MEASURE and be safe.

If you have access you might consider a set of 8 inch calipers (make sure 8" or more) from harbor freight or the parts store too to get overall length. The checkers have a bit of slop in them. Not the end of the world on ls7 lifters which i assume you're running, just $20 more piece of mind if you want it.

Explain how this is "as bad as guessing"? If you aren't an incompetent retard and know how to use a micrometer this method works just fine.
