Taking carbon off cylinders without removing them

I can use a plastic die grinder wheel on them and remove the crap easily, but I'm wondering if it's a big deal for the particles to get in the rings of if it will just burn out or get cleaned out with the first oil change.

Thoughts?

Bring em up to the top. Hose em with brake parts cleaner, wipe, repeat until clean. Doesn't take long.

I used the plastic discs you are talking about and they worked great! Yellow takes off the tough stuff and white is the finishing disc

you wanna know a good idea Gm upper engine service spray it through the throttle body let it sit for 20-30min thats the vehicle and water the carbon burn out!

I just did this, brake clean and a scotch brite works great. Just bring the piston up to the top of the cylinder, spray with brake clean, light scrub with a scotch brite, and either use a shop vac or some rags to clean up the mess.

I used Citra-solv with a scotch-brite. Dab the inner cylinder & exhaust ports with a wet Citra-solv-ed paper towel. Let sit....then scotch-brite & wipe clean.
It all came off like hot butter.
