Default 2 different motors, we are looking for the best heads UNDER $1000

Ok first I have 01 z28 LS1, looking for the best heads under $700 for me and my friend has an LQ9 looking for the best heads under $1000, any inputs

Im stock internal

He has a 224R Cam I believe with an LS6 intake

Also I've heard of some nice setups for $1500 which include cam setup and head setup???

Are those budgets for fully assembled heads, or are you planning on swapping parts?

Stock 243s...and might want to get a cam first before doing that.

my friend has an LQ9 looking for the best heads under $1000,
Have him send his current heads to AI for a port job.

Or get some LS3s with intake and have him sell his old heads/intake.

Both will work just fine and be about the best for that budget.

I think ls3 heads would shroud the valves too much on a stock bore lq9...if I were you I would go for a set of 243/799 ls6 heads because they got a smaller combustion chamber and will bump compression from 10:1 up to around 10.5-6:1...they are cheap(400-500 bucks) so you still be able to possibly afford to get them cnc ported for even more performance, then all you would need is some springs and you would be ready to romp
