Doh! The long ones that go into the rear cover? I assume it is not the bolts that are stripped, but what they thread into?

Total redneck suggestion that i doubt will work is to cram a bunch of jb weld stick in the hole and use a little bottle jack to hold the bolt tight until it dries? Other than that it would take on hell of a helicoil or dropping the tranny.

You can get the rear cover with gasket, bolts and rear main seal already installed new from GM for around $65.00

I did the same thing. wondering if I can find a slightly longer bolt or if helicoil is the only option. The block threads are stripped, but if you stick a thin rod in there you can feel some threads still up there hence the need for a lightly longer bolt.

I think the OP is talking about the 2 bolts that screw into the rear cover. It's going to leak a little from back there, but i just say go ahead and order a new rear cover and pull the trans when you get a chance.
