Default Patriot stage 2 heads with 224/230 Comp, good combo??

I just purchased a set of Patriot stage2 heads that have been milled to 59cc and I'm looking to get some feedback on how my combo will be.. I'm currently running the CompCams 224/230 cam on a 114 with the factory ls1 intake. The build process probably won't take place until sometime this winter but I was curious as to how people think the car will do once I put the heads on and an ls6 intake with the current cam.. Car has all bolt ons and a 4k stall.

Also wanting advice on gasket choice and any other thing that goes with the process. I'd like to have everything needed before I get started so maybe their won't be any surprises.. Thanks in advance.

Should run really good with that combo, but if I were you I'd plan on the chance of needing to flycut the pistons. Run your numbers through wallaceracingcalculators and see what compression you come out with. If your good on compression is look at trying to get s .040" mls gasket to keep the quench nice and tight...that is if it doesn't put your compression too high for pump gas

The guy who took them off his car had a torquer 3 and said that he had no problems with clearance, but i think his came off an ls2, it was an 04zo6. Lift on cam is just .581 so I'm really hoping I won't have to fly cut. Any guesses on numbers?? Kinda hoping it will break 7.5's in the 1/8th, any chance??

I don't know if I done something wrong, but with .041 gaskets, it was saying my compression was going to be like 12.05 on that calculator!!

Ok, the heads were just redone with new valves and .650 valve springs. I'm no mechanical genius but I think I got a pretty good deal. I'm going to try to install the heads myself to save a little money so I can put some more into the build.. What are factory head gaskets on these cars while I'm thinking of it??

And nobody wants to say how big a difference it will be or what they think it'll put down on dyno/track?? I think I 'm just excited that after a year, I'm finally getting heads and I'm defintately over-anxious about it. lol

Yup, the ls2 lifters trays are good cheap insurance! Ls7 lifters are plenty for your build and now are considered factory replacement for the discontinued ls1 lifters.

Don't really want to start throwing out any numbers when there are so many variables, but you will be very happy with the gains, I can tell you that.

12.05:1 static compression probably....just a few places below that look for the ""dynamic compression calculator" and punch your numbers in including your cam....FYI, I'm st 12.5:1 static compression and have no problem running 92-93 octane....once you get the intake valve closing point in there you will see a lot lower dynamic compression....you went to shoot for right at or under 8.5:1 drc to stay pump gas friendly

You'll clear. I have the same heads and my old 232/236 cam barely cleared. If you want, go ahead and check to be safe. Honestly, I'd flycut and go to a bigger cam.

i would always check, even if a hotcam went in there. your 232/236 might have been on different lobes, and have different lift. You never know until you measure

Ya, I'll definitely check. I may go to a bigger cam but a lot of people seems to think the combo will be great together.

I will say this one more time:

LIFT HAS PRACTICALLY NOTHING TO DO WITH PTV CLEARANCE>

Yep. It's about duration. How long that valve stays open before the piston comes to TDC.
