thats kinda silly. Comparing a brands 2 setup (very bad ***) But get 5-20 miles on the springs combined. To a set that way more common that gets... 500K to millions of miles, is 100s of DIY street cars. Dry 1st starup, cold relines, lots setups valve floating, and search for whats gonna fine more about
What? Calm down, your studering.
The nextek spring is made for many applications. It's an "upgrade" for Advanced Induction heads. And I haven't found a broke spring in a street car Genlll application yet. PAC springs have two documented breaks on this site. Matt, you said do a google search and I'll find street cars with broke Nextek springs, and I'm saying you won't. You will find monster race engines that broke the inside spring with .75 and up valve lift and high RPM. But, they don't shatter like the PAC. There's a link in this thread above to the shattered spring.
Sorry I'm on my phone and I'll clarify this more when I get home on my computer. I hope the OP is taken care of for his loss. It sucks to spend a bunch of money, only to have it waisted on inferior parts that are advertised as being "so great" and yet have them fail miserably premature, like the PAC springs are.

Best I can tell tell from the OP's posting, they were Patriot springs.

That was the first result on my Google search.

http://www.460ford.com/forum/showthread.php?t=158979

That was second. There are plenty more, as are there for any spring you search. Like I said, I don't have a dog in this fight.....we produce and sell the PRC kits (which also have broken).

Those springs are made for TEA/TFS by PAC. TEA/TFS switched to PAC about a year and a half ago.

Sorry to see this for both TEA and PAC, as well as their customers.

For what it's worth, from 2005 to present I've yet to see a single Platinum spring that I sell break. I better knock on a LARGE piece of wood, because just saying that will cause one to break...

TSP doesn't sell PAC dual springs. They sell PRC dual springs.

We offer PAC's full line-up, for now, but we highly prefer the PRC line-up for obvious reasons

I was wrong. I bought the PRC's from Texas Speed last year. Checked them-they are fine.

While what happened to OP is not funny, it never seizes to amuse me how misinformed a lot of people are. (Also how quickly every vendor is about reneging any responsibility )

No one reneged about anything.

But yes many people are misinformed here.

Comp doesn't make any of their springs. They were buying them from PAC years ago but got their feelings hurt so they went to Associated Spring 100%. Associated screwed them with a few NASCAR customers and on price/quality so they are going back to PAC.

Broken springs have been a big problem for Comp. If you have a bill of sale regardless of it you bought them directly from Comp they will take them back if you stand your ground or threaten to sue.

No need to sue Comp, these springs didn't come from Comp, they came from TEA, who gets them from PAC (Peterson).

Finally heard back from Mike @ TEA.
He's trying to make this situation with me right, which is appreciated.

My mechanic installed the Patriot springs today on the damaged side, so the car should be buttoned up by the end of today.

Still bummed they failed, i will keep everyone posted.
Just dying to get my car back.

So you pulled off springs made by Peterson that failed, and installed different springs made by Peterson? Interesting...

Hopefully they are installed at correct height and will be checked (pressure measured) every 10>15k miles (depending on use).
OP also always wait for motor to reach operating temperature before beating on springs. Cold start and trash tend to have very negative results in springs. Have the installer check your geometry and all clearances on the rockers as well.

Ok so first you sent me a pm begging me to buy your "state of the art best in the west springs", and now you are leaving sarcastic and snide comments.

Do you realize how desperate you are coming off? Please go away.

I don't think Brian has to beg anyone for business. His work at TEA should speak for itself.

I wonder how many peeps do a visual inspection for scratches, nicks, etc. during an install. Any kind of stress riser can cause a spring to fail...

Mailed the spring/ bent valve/retainers out to Mike at TEA over the weekend.

So far I'm $1200 down from this broken spring. Mike seems like a good dude so lets hope this gets resolved fairly.
