Default 98 SS ready for first oil change, have 2 questions

My previous car was an LT1 93 Camaro Z28 and I ran 4 quarts of 5w-30 synthetic mobil 1 in there with 1 quart lucas oil synthetic oil stabilizer with a K&N oil filter.

I'm planning the same setup for my 98 Camaro SS and I want to know:

Is it necessary to run the oil stabilizer in the LS1? I'm only at 70,000 miles on the odometer.

How much oil should it take with a K&N Oil Filter?

Thanks guys.

I use 6 quarts in mine.

Don't thicken it up with the stabilizer, it isn't needed and it'll slow down the oil on it's way to the top side of the engine, especially when it's cold. Just get a good synthetic oil and you're good to go. I use 10w 30 in mine.

Great, thanks! I wasn't planning on using it again. The LS1 engine runs a lot better then my LT1 did so I figured I wouldn't need it.

I heard royal purple is the way to go on LS1's?

I guess I'll run it this time and see how it goes. Thanks for the input. I appreciate it!
