Default cylinder honing

I recently honed my 98 ls1 block. I read that the preferred grit stones more polymar piston rings is 280 grit and finer. I used one 400grit, the cylinder walls look good, but the scratches are small. Anyone have some advice?
Thanks

The key to a good home hone is getting the crosshatch angles right and a proper plateau on the walls.

Control on the drill and consistent stroke speed will net that. Just start with a rougher grit and finish with a finer grit to achieve a decent plateau.

Do u think I should hone it with a 220grit a little and smooth it out with the 400grit? Even after I've already used the 400
