I may be running the cam you are considering. I chose it for a lot of the same reasons, as well as the fact that a less radical lobe and a little less lift will save wear and tear on valvetrain. I think it's great. It behaves quite well on the street, I get great fuel economy, and I made 446/426 even with 10.1 static compression (don't ask), crap Pacesetter LTs, and an old unported FAST90. Notice that I did, however, spend on the heads. I think it's safe to say that my AFRs are the reason why my motor behaves so well, and why it has such good torque even with a lower than stock compression ratio.
Your goals should be perfectly attainable, even without premium heads. The best advice I can give you is to get the best heads you can afford, get the compression ratio up nice and high, then get a custom cam made for your application. And don't worry so much about dyno numbers.
