? On crank balancing. Had my crank balanced a few weeks ago, and am now thinking about buying a set of Scat I Beam rods. Since it was balanced with the stock pistons/rods will it need to be rebalanced again to accommodate the new rods?
If by some freak chance the rod overall weight and big end/small end weights are the same or very close maybe not but that seems unlikely.
Maybe talk to the shop and see if they can help you pick a rod that would be minimal work to rebalance, this might help them be friendlier on the rework bill too.

That's what I figured... I bought the ARP bolts for my rods and was unaware of the rod resizing or possible out of round. All shops around here want $15 per rod so about $118, which is ridiculous considering I could have a set of forged rods for about $260. Guess I will just take them down and have them checked and then go from there! Thanks
Guess I will find out in a few hours, but I will ask any ways... If I get the rods resized chances are the crank will need to be re-balanced regardless right? Suppose I will have to see what the shop can do!
You will need to re-balance! Keep in mind, they are not balancing the crank...but rather balancing the entire assembly! Change components (weights) in the assembly, and you'll need to re-balance.
