Default blow- by

I'm in the process of tearing my car down for my head swap. Heads are milled to 59cc so I'm looking at a serious bump in compression. Is this what cause blow-by? Just curious as I'm about to order everything and was just curious if I need a catch can too..

Blowby is compression gasses making it out the chamber

Specifically past the piston rings and into the crankcase. Higher compression will cause more blow-by because there is more cylinder pressure that the rings need to hold back.

The catch can "catches" the oil, but let's the air/pressure back through the intake...the lower the pressure in the crankcase the better the rings seal and the less blow by you have

It won't hurt but it won't fix worn rings either. A catch can will yield better results

Ok, my motor is at 100k, never been on juice or boost, only on cam for the past 5k. Never really been ran hard either in comparison to others. What do you guys think about my rings?? The reason I'm so concerned is I hate seeing smoke and unless I can help it, I about refuse to see it.

Becareful with the eBay catch cans som will let oil go right thru. Spend the money and get a can with the screen in it to stop the oil.
