I am starting to wonder if I might have a problem? I took my AFR 205's and Fel-Pro 1041 (4.135 I.D.) head gaskets to the shop for an install, and when I picked the car up, the gaskets where still in the back of the car. I ask why and he told me they where the wrong ones. He installed 3.910 x .040 Cometic's. So if my chamber is 3.960, and the gasket is 3.910 that leaves me with .025 of gasket exposed to combustion chamber heat! What kind of problems can that cause?

I'd take the car back to him and make him put the right gaskets that you supplied in for free....if he felt they were the wrong size he should have called you, not just put in whatever he wanted.

Can anyone confirm that this might be a problem? And if so what are we talking about, pinging?

The gasket can burn causing a blown headgasket, or worse a chunk can get knocked loose and jam between the bore and the rings causing a broken ring, ring land or scarred bore
