How much should I expect to pay for a basic LS1 shortblock rebuild?

Probably going to go with stock rods but forged pistons. Will have the block blueprinted and the heads milled 0.010". Budget isn't my concern. It's more to not waste money on components/operations I don't need. I can only make but so much power and I will only turn so much RPM so I have no need for an engine that can support 800 rwhp and turn 10,000 rpms for hours on end... that kind of thing.

Just make sure to run some ARP rod bolts. If I ever have to take my oil pan off those are getting swapped. It's just some insurance for those 6800-7000 shifts.

The Over bore block is iron correct, and 90 lbs heavier?

Will that affect the class you race in at all? just curious

The 1799 one is aluminum. They have one for 1599 that is iron. Yeah I'd never touch an iron block for my use. Add lightness!

We did a basic rebuild on a truck 5.3 recently and it was right at the $2k mark, that was completely assembled. The master rebuild kits for the LS cost a LOT more than the old style SBC.
