Am I Ready-Break In?? I have a new 383 rebuilt LS1 that I have approx 425 miles. I've been doing the proper break in procedures so far (changed oil at 100 mi, using penzoil regular motor oil, varying Rpm, etc). I have done just a few WOT pulls, but not too much abuse. My question is, Street Fights are tonight at my local drag strip (Bristol) and I would like to make some passes.. Does anyone have any heart-burn??? Thanks for your help!!
These days most folks will tell you you should have pushed it a lot harder almost immediately.
The slow and easy breakin is more about flat tappets and letting you find mistakes and by most opinions is CONTRARY to what is best for the engine.

Hmm wow i've changed my oil 4 times within 300 miles lol. There is a good bit of truth if it lasts the initial cam break in it should hold together.
I would say go for it if you think the rings are seated fairly well.
