The XER lobe will not hurt stock rockers. I have 170,000 miles on the set in my car (without the trunion upgrade) and they are still going strong. The stock rocker is a very strong part.

No. You need hardened pushrods period. Stockers are flimsy and have deflection.

And as far as stock rockers go. They are a good part, if you keep the lift under .630 but the trunion upgrade is a must. It only takes once for those ******* ball bearings to fall out and ruin your motor.

Thing with "engine guys" is MANY MANY of them are clueless about modern engines even if they have worked on them once in awhile.
Most racing is still done with older engines where a .550lift solid flat tappet is a big cam and the blocks can be bored .030-.060 over without a second thought etc and those guys think they can offer advise on the newer stuff.

Man i love WS6 store!! Prices are so great. Im iust gonna get PAC 1218s and Comp chrome moly pushrods. Quick question though... i saw that soke people submerge their springs in oil prior to installation and the lifters. How long should they soak? My motor wont be installed for a WHILE . Definitely a couple months before install until i have enough to gather $ for other major swap parts. I cant "damage" these parts if i install them and just let them sit right

In any field you need to stay current. Nothing stays the same. Been hot rodding for close to 50 years. Worked on SBC, BBC, SBF, BBF, 1st & 2nd Gen Hemis, now for the past 10 years LS seres engines. Aluminum block/head engines have been around now for well over a decade. They are old news to say the least.....

PS .550 lift has never been what I would call a "big cam" in my life time.

I am not saying all old timers are clueless just a LOT of them in my experience. I have spent some time around dirt track cars and such and seen what a popular local "race engine" shop does to an LT1 and it is enough to make me real skeptical of anyone I would let near a modern engine.

Just this summer I remember seeing a guy post in this section about an aluminum LS block bored .030 over.

$121.95 + Shipping. In stock all day long!!!

Nothing to hide here....These "LS7" lifters are factory replacement for all LS engines, and in some cases, and upgrade of sorts. They are packaged in a 16 pc. set and sold as a kit from Chevy Performance with better pricing vs. buying them individually. If you open the box, would will find (2) boxes of (8) each 17122490 lifters, the direct replacement P/N for all LS based engines.

A PROPER valvetrain setup will ensure long lasting, trouble free performance. Lifter failure isn't always attributed just to the lifter....

I agree its not always the lifters fault if it breaks. But is there not a point that the LS-7 lifters are not enough? Cause I see a lot of guys on here with big cams and LS-7 lifters. And it simply drives me crazy. They are not made for extreme valvetrains.

Very aggressive camshafts should be coupled with a link bar style lifter from Lunati or Morel. Many different options out there.
