I found one other correction is required as well. When you tighten the bolt to 22 lb-ft, part of that travel is after the rocker bottoms and the bolt is preloading. For example, if the pushrod were exactly the length to acquire zero lash then you would tighten the bolt but no preload on the lifter would occur. When I checked mine against a dial indicator, I found that the last 1/3 turn was only preloading the bolt (attaining the 22 lb-ft) but no lifter preload was taking place. So the total turns needed to be corrected by first subtracting those turns that don't contribute to the lifter preload.

Honestly, I just use the Dial indicator to measure how far it actually travels....

its a lot easier and you dont have to keep track of everything else....LOL

I do the same as well but with all the methods being proposed I wanted to check how they worked. The counting turns gets you close as long as you make the proper corrections.
