They don't like water. So I'm thinking you may have a dead lifter. If you had a bent rod, you would have less compression in that cylinder, not more.

As far as iron blocks go, I'm happy with mine. I bought my LQ4 as a complete engine, but i wish i had just bought a shortblock and installed the LS3 top end from the beginning. A complete LS3/L76/L99 top end cost less than a FAST intake alone and makes a lot more power than a FAST with stock 243's or 317's.
So if the high compression isn't from the bent rod what would cause that cylinders compression to be higher than the others?

So you have a lq4 6.0 iron block with ls3 top end?

Either a dead lifter not allowing the valve to open or hydrolocking maybe

It is either coolant in the cylinder causing the higher compression like you said, or sometimes pressure can be blown from one cylinder into the next if the gasket is blown between cylinders. I think the first scenario is likely your answer though.

When are you going to get that head off for inspection?

You can see if the plunger is collapsed and pull it out and inspect the roller for damage and the circumference for bore scoring.

rebuild it!

make sure theres no scoring on the cylinder wall..replace the piston, re-hone the cylinder if you cant see cross hatch, helps for new piston rings to seal. did this exact thing when i chipped a piston on my 6.0 lq4.

make sure none of the valves in the cylinder head are leaking by spraying brake clean in the intake side, and exhause side of that cylinder..reason i say brake clean is because its thinner than water and will tell you if your valves are leaking.
