What's up guys I have a 99 z28 6spd with a iron block 6.0 from a 02 silverado and I'm looking to buy a cam and I'm stuck between two the thumper cam and the torquer v2 cam. I was wondering which one I should go with I want it to sound good and have a good power range.

I would lean towards TRQ v2 with 111lsa, the Thumpr cams are meant to have that "old school" heavy cam sound with mild lobes, an good lowend. They'll offer increased performance but that's not their purpose.
So what kind of use is planned for the 99 Z28?

I liked to build a nasty n/a street car a 408 bottom end with trick flow heads and a fast intake I'm goin to get the top end package from trick flow but for now I want to put a cam in it

If you want something that will sound like one of those two cams and give you the performance you wanted I can do a custom grind for you and you'd have it in a week.

There are plenty of other ways of making a cam sound like one of those two cams without using a tight lobe separation angle.

gm hot cam and save the hundred or so dallars on the bigger motor build......

Do u have a part number for the gm hot cam? And what are its power range?

I agree with doing a custom. That is the best way to optimize your cam to the heads you are using. That is the only way to go in my opinion.

Any cam with enough overlap is going to lope like crazy if you set you idle low enough. Pretty much anything north of a 224/224 114 is going to lope. So, instead of trying for a sound, you should be trying for a specific powerband, specific drivability, specific target ET, etc.

For the love of God, why is sound even a consideration in purchasing a cam?! Get a custom cam. Whoever specs it will get you exactly what you want. Oh, you're going to have to give a lot more information than motor size and sound.

exhaust and tune effect sound more then cam specs.get a cam that makes power ,not 1 that sounds powerful.

I agree 100% it drives me nuts when I'm trying to give recommendations or specify profiles and the customers first question after I come up with a profile that will be optimal for their set-up and they want to know, "Will it hit a lick"?

Makes me want to pull my hair out!

not everyone can have that three quatta cam!

Shoot we just go full 4/4 cam in that case!
