Default Where to shift at?

I have a 2000 Sonoma 5.3/t56 swap with 243s, ls6 intake, underdrive pulley, ported tb, longtube headers, 218/226 .595 .598 112+3, trunion upgrade. Bottom end is stock with arp2000 rodbolts. Just got it dynoed today and we set the rev limiter at 6500 and made 370 rwhp. Raised it to 6800 and made 369, lol. What is the rpm limit of the a 5.3 with rod bolts?

Why do you want to know that!
You have a cammed engine surely it's only this engine that's of importance.
Your Dyno graph will show where your torque & power is, so limit your RPM to that power band.

You want to shift well past peak HP so that you use the top of the power curve not just the uphill slop and this way you endup staying higher in the powerband after the shift.

Also what year is the donor engine? I believe the rod bolts thing was more a true LS1 problem than a truck engine problem.

Another consideration is that piston weight is a HUGE part of what puts stress on the connectiong rod and bolts. A quick googling did not turn up a weight for 5.3l pistons but it stands to reason they would be lighter than 5.7l pistons which would make a 5.3l with the same rods and bolts as a LS1 more rpm tolerant.

I'll have my dyno graph Monday waiting for him to email it. Believe the short block was an 04.

Took the words right out of my mouth.

Post up the dyno graph and I'll tell you where to shift it.
