I might get a wild hair up my *** though and take her to Donaldsonville in the next month or so. If it (the rear) blows, it blows. I'll just build it bigger and stronger.

Thanks for the link, brother. Good info is good info. Period. I'm surprised "Ed Curtis" hasn't turned into "Xx Xxxxxx" yet.

Awesome build, motor sounds great! What did you end up with for lifter pre-load and do you have much valvetrain noise?

One full turn should have put me right at .047 for preload. I was surprised to say the least that I needed a 7.4 PR. I was really thinking I'd need at most a 7.375 being the heads are 59cc. If I had gone with the Cometic .040 I would have for sure. Geoff steered me away from that though as he was worried about my dynamic compression. I'm right at 11.7 static as it is.

For noise it's not bad. It isn't so much a sewing machine as its the valves. Ed's cams have, for the most part, ridiculously fast ramp rates. I can def hear them closing, that's for sure.

I'm really happy that you got the build done and are happy with the results. I'm going out on a limb here, but I think you're going to be even happier on the 18th. Those Ed Curtis cams are pretty bad ***, especially when you let him custom spec one to meet your mods and goals. Make sure you keep us posted on the dyno numbers. She's going to be stout.

11's with an 8.8? With a decent 60 ft you should be close to 10's, and 10's easy with a 150 hit. Those 205's are torque monsters, congrats on the new setup with some badass parts.

Thanks gents.

I'm trying to guess #'s on the conservative side, that way if they do happen to be lower, well, I won't be disappointed. 4 days and a wake-up!

It won't idle that nasty when tuned, unless you want it to. That can be tweaked, depending on how much time the tuner has with the car.

Completely off topic, but its kinda crazy that your ASC# matches my SLP #, Rise of the Phoenix.

Ron, I'll let Geoff play around with it but I like the stock idle RPM as it is. I'd really like to keep it and not raise it.

Well, dyno day was split in two due to a double booking, lol.

Anyways, great time with Geoff over the past two days; guys incredible to say the least.

Best run before the clutch gave out was 452rwhp and 417rwt, sae corrected, on his dyno jet. I'm happy to say the LEAST!

Geoff says theres definately a bit more in it, after I get a clutch worth a ****, and a set of 42# injectors that ALL work. Found out one was dead today, so the pulls were done with my stock, what, 28.8's?

What a blast to drive now!

Anyways, graph, vids, and everything else coming in the dyno section in a few days.

Great numbers with the clutch giving out! How high did you spin it and what rpm's did the clutch start giving?

We took it to 6800 and gods honest truth, the curve looked great.

Here's a shitty pic; I was too excited and forgot to snap one with the torque curve.

Hows the driveability of the new setup? And surging or bucking in the low rpm's?

It's bearable. There's "that spot" around 1700 in first that's just not a fan of the cam, but other than that its great.

Here's a vid of clutch greatness at the end of the pull

Hey Doc. I'm thinking the big victory here is that the pistons and valves are "Happy Together"!

Sounds very good.

I would think you can work on the surge. I have a little but the A4 covers it up.

Keep us posted.

Those are GREAT numbers. Just think what she would have done with more fuel. Kind of wishing I wouldn't have sold that cam now

I know. I'm so pissed about that dead injector.

Shopping for a new clutch too. I'm thinking about going with the sprung 6 puck from ACT. I haven't heard **** about it, and it's reasonably priced. ACT treated me great on an AWD Eclipse back in the day....

Oh yeah, and that graph up there... That's the difference between running a dirty MAF and a clean one. Cost me 13hp. I learned you really can't just spray them clean. Once you pop the ends off you'd be surprised what you missed.
