I just wanted to get the bang for buck outta setup. So far the prc 675 springs seem to be the ones.

Yea, most are pretty happy with them, I ran the xtremes. And floated the valves.. So I'm runnin PAC now.. I never expected my cobbled together setup to run as well as it does, but it's the details..

Well me personally no.. But your not interested in measuring all day.. So keep it simple, I can guarantee I'd be fly cutting..

so we can add a yank ss 4000 stall with a 2.5str to the mod list. im stoked. just picked it up off a member.

now that im starting to think. wow my car is going to be completely different beast.

dam i want to bump compression on my car.

question for you fellas

lets entertain the idea i do have time to let the car sit and wait for the correct push rod length to get here.

what mill and gasket would you guys use with this cam? i know it will clear without fly cutting with the mill and cc i suggested above. i do not think clay would be needed. so i can put it all together. order them after i measure after had installed heads along with everything else minus valve covers rockers of coarse.. installing them whenever correct length arrive.

dont all everyone answer at once lol.

well pac springs good to 670 will help keep the valve float from occurring.

i picked up some arp hex head bolts for 120 shipped. do these get torqued down the sameway as the stocks?

still need to pick up gaskets and push rods. guess ill be leaving heads alone and throwing in stock mls gaskets.

Make sure you shim them correctly for the lift your running... Arp bolts require a 3 step process I.e 25, 45, 75 ftlbs in the recommended pattern by GM

It will have to be factored into the installed height.. Yes.. But you still have to measure your heights and add accordingly to achieve your desired installed heights

More measuring lol. I think i need to fly u out here haha. Im not even sure what my desired measurement would be. I just want the car to run as it should so that she makes some power. I think 80% of people who do setups around here dont measure.for that :/ im embarised.

80%? More like 95% don't be embarrassed, sadly brand new heads come out the box setup improperly for the cam being used.. Don't be embarrassed.. It's a great learning experience., what cam u running? What valve spring etc.. What locator you have? How thick etc.. Lets get it figured out for ya

Hell even most machine shops don't know how to set up a set of cylinder heads properly. I found that out that hard way. My install height was suppose to be 1.72 and it was at 1.81. After some serious valve float and the inner springs pulling the valve seals off I realized something was wrong. After that I learned how to measure install height, shim accordingly, etc.

Checking things like that makes a difference in a car that runs OK and a car with the same parts run great.

It's much easier to measure this stuff before you put the heads on the car. I however didn't have that luxury.

alright so here is the mod list as of now valvetrain wise.

tr trak cam 235.16/232.70 .595" .644" 112lsa

the spring kit is Pac-1208x says on the box

installed 482@1.800

open 482 @1.110

rate 460

coil bind 1.000

RETAINERS is PAC-r335

diameter a 1.300

diameter b .940

SEATS Pac-s129

diameter A 1.270

I have a cam that would also work very well with what you're trying to do.

It's specs are 234/240 .61x"/.58x" 113+4. http://www.tickperformance.com/tick-...r-ls2-engines/
