Wouldn't installing a custom grind cam Dot to Dot defeat the purpose of getting a custom grind? I am by no means a cam expert or mechanic but it crossed my mind today. Any insight on this?

 

no... when you order a custom grind, it comes set up for you to install dot to dot unless otherwise instructed

you can have advance built into the grind so that dot to dot moves the valve events as if you were advancing or retarding the cam without you actually having to physically move it.
