Default Help me with my build

I have a SOM trans am and looking to get 450+hp. It will be a summer/weekend warrior. Possibly with occasional trips to the strip.
So looking for reliable, yet strong, good sounding setup that will get me excited every time I go for a drive.

budget around $4000

current mods are
Yank 3600stall
10bolt 3.73
Headers hooker LT's - ory - magnaflow
smooth elbow - flowpac and more

After a lot of research Ive come up with this:
TFS as cast 220cc .650 or.660 dual valve springs
stock rockers w. comp trunnion kit and powder metal guides
FAST 92 or 102
GM mls gasket
Arp studs
25% ud
ls6 oil pump
ls2 chain
Frost tune
.....
.....

Still torn between 228R, torqer3 and VRX5 regarding cam

Looking for off the shelve stuff that I can bolt on myself with basic tools.

any inputs??

I had a 228r and it was a nice cam, BUT there are better lobes and grinds now so id go with something different.

The 228 is s great cam, but I think you are looking for something more aggressive than it...is look for something in the low 230's intake duration, mid to high 230's exhaust duration, keep it at or just under .600" lift to make your valvetrain last a long time and run it on a 110-112lsa...might also want to go a little higher on your stall depending on just what cam you go with.

I ran and loved a comp grind 238/242 .595/.595 112lsa and a 4,000 in my stock cube 346, but if I did it again I think is go just a hair smaller on cam

I think you would really like my Stage 2 Street Heat cam: http://www.tickperformance.com/tick-...1-ls6-engines/

Or we could do something similar to those camshafts you selected with a more modern lobe.

We're also a TEA dealer so we could have those TFS heads ordered also so you can get all your items in one place.

I also really prefer the Fast 92 in a 346 cubic inch application now that it has been re-released, I feel like it makes more average power and with the correct cam timing will make more peak torque and horsepower.

Shoot me a PM or don't be shy and give us a call, I'm sure we can meet your price constraints also with the parts you have selected.

They would work very well in his application, but so would any of those other cams he chose.

I'm not here to say one is better than the other, just offer my services and customer support.
