I went to Fastenal and got a bolt the same size as the crank bolt just at least a 1/2" longer and did it that way. You can get one more than 1/2'' longer but you might need to take it out part way and put some washers on the pulley to prevent the bolt from bottoming out.

does anyone know where i can get a good valve spring compressor locally? i dont have time to order one. or does anyone in NJ have one i could borrow this weekend? need help ASAP

update: so i couldnt finish this weekend due to my cheap valve spring compressor. ordered the trick flow one from summit so i should be dont next weekend. finished everything else, got the cam in, ls2 timing chain, and new balancer.

yep, pretty sure i got it aligned properly. left all the bolts loose then put the balancer on, then tightened the timing cover.
