Default Cam install TV2

Im finally getting a chance to go home for a few days so im gonna put in the new cam in my 97 (see sig). Ive been gathering parts since about July and just got the last of them today. The cam is a TorquerV2 that i got from a member on here, and ill be using a set of brian tooley dual springs with comp pushrods. also gonna put on an ls2 timing chain. the only thing i dont have is a balancer install tool, thought id be able to make one but fastenal wanted $50 for some all thread, so that didnt happen. any ideas on how to get the balancer on without a tool? im gonna have to get a little creative.

just wanted to let you guys know, ive been waiting for so long to do this so im kind of excited

will post video when completed!

Guy on e-bay sells one for like $20...it's what I used and it went ok. Did stick a bit trying to back it out which made me nervous. But here is the nice one. http://sdparts.com/details/scoggin-d...-center/sd6628

Autozone rents the pullers for free.

Please don't try to install your pulley with a crank bolt. You'll find many threads about guys that did this and ended up ruining their cranks. Spend the $50 to buy a proper install tool.

Buy the tool from sd. It took me 30 seconds to put the pulley on and I'm glad I bit the bullet for the tool. Pm them and ask about 10% off for ls1tech members...I got mine for a reduced price.

I hadbto take my crank off about 3 times I always used a longer bolt to pit back on... I'm going to get the tool when I put it back on this time don't want to mess anything up and I used 6 inch puller to get it off

Just buy the longer ls7 crank bolt to pull the pulley on and then just use the regular size bolt.

$10 at the dealer

i agree to wait for the tool... if you absolutely cant then take your balancer and put it in the over at 250 for about 30 mins. then as quickly as possible grab it with oven mits and it should literally fall right on ive done this a couple times and it works quick and easy. a small mapp torch heating the hub of the pulley will also work as well.

i was thinking of doing the oven trick, ive put a balancer on a 5.3 before with no tool but it was on an engine stand.

i was originally gonna make my own, but i couldnt find any M16x2.0 all thread except at fastenal and they were out of stock and wanted $50. But i just lucked out, my old man works for a German company that makes centrifuges and ive worked in the parts department there and remembered seeing all thread there. So i texted him and asked to see if they had some M16x2, and sure enough they did! So yes, i will be making my own tool. im gonna start on the install today, i wont have the puller or installer until he gets out of work, so i might try and get the valve springs done first.
