Default Valve train noise

Got an 06 1500 ccsb i just swapped my 4.8 for a 5.3. While i had the 5.3 out i put the ls6 cam Lunati springs and comp lifters. Used the stock pushrods. I have significantly more noise in the top end now. Is this mainly due to my stock pushrods?? Is this to be expected?? What's the preload supposed to be? Thanks

Yes, you'll need longer PRs with the LS6 cam. CompCam list the #850-16 lifter with a recommended pre-load within .030" to .040".

Are my stock pushrods 7.400??? You said .030 to .040?? That's it?? No wonder it's making noise. I've got a .050 smaller base cam and put tighter tolerance lifters than stock as far as preload is concerned. I was under the understanding that stock preload was .060-.080?? Is that correct

You don't have stock, you have CompCam lifters;correct..? So from 0-lash to 22ft.lb. 3/4 turn of the rocker bolt would be perfect at about .035 preload.

I recently put the 850-16 lifters in my engine and the instructions that came with the lifters called for preload between .050 and .100. I ended up with .070 and it's quiet.

My instructions says revised 3/22/12 so they seem to be the latest version, if you notice the instruction you posted say revised 7/20/07.

Okay, so disregard the .030-.040 pre-load; go with .050 -.100 .
