mods to break 10's starting to piece together what i need to start collecting to build up my car but i want to know if my goals are possible.... plans for::: Suspension will be Strano springs w/ bilstiens SFC's all tubular rear CTS-V brakes ** 8.8 rear with slicks ** motor is an 88k mile LS1 in my 98ss PnP 5.3 heads cam (polluter, Tsunami, or somthing) ARP rod bolts LS2 intake, Tbody, and LS3 maf conversion (so its 92mm all the way to the lid) 92mm Plate system setup for a 125 shot 46# injectors Longtubes with ORY i want to be able to break 10's on nitrous but not sure if its realistic or not.... with just the cam i want to be able to put a pullieid Termi in its place |
A heads/cam LS1 with a 125 shot should be able to run 10s. Are you a auto or manual? |
stage 2 t56 with a Tick MC and a Monster level 2 clutch... |
I would swap that ls2 for a ls6 intake. Other than that, an ls1 with h/c/i, slicks, and nitrous has the potential for high 10's |
Are you pulling the bottom end apart to have the rods resized with the ARP rod bolts ? |
no just stock replacement rod bolts... The ONLY reason i want the LS2 intake is for the 92mm Throttle body.. im going to use an RPT 92mm LS3 maf housing and a 92mm lid.. so id hate bo bottleneck all that down into an LS6 intake... just a personal preference... got any Cam ideas? as long as its moderatly drivable im not picky... just as long as i dont have to flycut pistons... was thinking Polluter, Mayhem 2, MS3, or tsunami but im open to options.. found the GT-12 lingenfelter cam but i think its a bit much 253/263 .611/.618 115 what would those specs be good for? what powerbnd and idle etc. they claim an agressive idle with great street manners? |
i thought that even an ls2 intake with the bigger tb still doesnt out flow a ls6 with a stock throttle body... of those cams listed people have had good success with all of them...i dont know about the mayhem...but the ms3 and tsunami have been awesome cams...as far as that gt-12...uh...that thing is hugh...28 degrees of overlap...damn... |
the LS2 dosnt outflow the LS6 unless its ported... i just want the larger throttle body and i can get an LS2 with t-body and rails for like 250 bucks locally.. i could use a Lingenfelter LS6 with a 92mm throttle body conversion. Nothing agenst a FAST.... but i honestly dont want one.... and i know the gt12 is a monster... but they claim good drivability and that it was designed for LS1, LS2, and LS6 engines.... so idk haha |
If you're wanting a huge donkey dick cam without flycutting the pistons I would move away from the 5.3 heads |
H/C/I with a 100 shot got me a 10.71 @ 127mph. |

dont get me wrong id love a stock sounding cam that will put 450+ to the ground N/A but its not going to happen so id like a radical sounding cam that just intimidates mustang owners hahaha |

If your changing rod bolts and spraying you might as well go with arp or katech I heard you don't have to get thoses resized Im going to spray 100 shot they said for that little shot I don't need to replace the rod bolts but I'm eventually going to replace them... |

and ya thats what i meant.. not stock replacement like OEM stock as in stock size Katech or ARP.. not a larger size that need to be machined or somthing... |
I personaly would not change out rod bolts with out having the rods resized, (ARP or Katech) Some get away with it and others dont... https://ls1tech.com/forums/generatio...oing-come.html https://ls1tech.com/forums/generatio...-bolt-ls1.html https://ls1tech.com/forums/generatio...nightmare.html |
well im not pulling the motor to do this.. im going to simply remove the bolts 1 at a time. torque in the new katech ones and go.. i dont plan on spinning my engine to the moon i just dont want to break a stock bolt... im just going to beat the piss out of my LS1 till it blows and in the mean time be building a 6.0 or larger with an LS3 topend to replace it.. i have seen many people just swap bolts without changing anything.. the engine has 88k miles on it and runs fine so i dont see a need to tear it apart for nada |
i wouldnt waste the money on the bilstiens shocks if your going to see the track and want to shoot for a number get some QA1s or something long those lines |
