Default what heads ?? new 370 build

What's up guys I'm building a 370 from a lq9 block . I'm using the stock crank ,eagle rods and a set of d.s.s forged flatop pistons . My cam is comp custom grind with .623/.617 lift and a duration of 229/236 on a 112 l.s.a . This is gonna be a mild nitrous motor I'm running a edelbrock vic Jr intake , scorpion 4bbl t.b , with a nitrous daves internal spraybars installed . Trans is a 4l80 I haven't bought a converter yet. this is going into a 4th gen camaro. My issue is I have no idea what heads I wanna run , obv my intake is meant for a cathedral port head so a ls3 head is a no go would a set of prc ported 5.3 heads be enough or would I need bigger ?

Call Texas speed then. They should have a record of who and what it was ground for.

Too many people here try to build a car around a cam....Why??

The question here...what is the budget? If the cash is there, go the best possible...AFR

If I were you, I would sell the cam and the intake.

Pick up some CNC ported LS3/L99 heads from Summit/LS3 intake/proper spec'd cam.

You will be much happier.

I bought the motor used and had a bad piston , cam was in it . I have the intake with the comp ratio I want the ls3 heads would still need machine work to get the chambers down to what I want . The motor had a set of trick flow heads on it but he kept em . My budget is around 15/1800 hundred as its only the heads I need now .

Trickflow as cast 220 heads. They will have better performance than any gm casting, and they arent to expensive, and they leave room to grow in the future.

Good choice, lots of room to grow into for sure.

Because it's the right way?

Ehhh, that cam would work better with a cathedral port, but it would work OK with a rectangle port head.

If you're on a budget look at TEA, AI or PRC for ported stock casting heads.

If you have a little more room to work with money wise, you can't beat AFR or TEA CNC TFS 225 heads.

For that type of budget I would recommend the PRC as cast 225 heads. They will maintain a nice broad power band which the LS3 heads will kill. These heads are an aftermarket casting so you get the benefit of the thicker deck without having to pay huge money.

Here is a link to the heads: http://www.texas-speed.com/p-3515-pr...ral-heads.aspx

i agree with badazz81z28 why build a car around a cam.... a custom grind is suposed to be built around the car... build the engine and set goals THEN grind the cam... soo many people do it backwards
