Default LS1 Engine Pre-lube (Priming)

Gent,

I made a pre-luber with the correct fittings....However, I just noticed the oil port in the Kent Moore instructions is blocked by the alternator (F-body set-up). Would I get the same results if I pumped oil in the back through the oil pressure sensor port?

Just disconnect coil packs and crank til you get oil pressure, that is poor mans way to prime and has worked well for me.

Yea it took a solid 3-4 30 second cranks to see oil pressure, I had my breath held the entire time lol.

Dang. I definitely did not do it for that long on either of my motors when I cammed them. Maybe 30 seconds total. Neither of them had any trouble though.

Yeah, I know...its just this motor has been sitting for so long from leaving GM, I want to get some lube in there. I'm not sure what is left of the assembly lube.

Yes, tho OP port will work, but it might be easier to use the oil cooler port above the oil filter.

Hmmm...I didn't notice a M16 threaded port there. I need to look again.

Ahh, I just found a link to the oil system...Looks like the location for the Kent Moore pump is most likely because its before the filter. If I pump it in on top in the OP port, it bypasses the filter....Not sure how dirty new oil can be lol...

You have to tap the oil filter "sandwich" to be able to use it...I used autometer adapter and oil pressure gauge tool...the reason my engine took so long is bc it was completely bone dry before startup and I was about .75 of a quart low I found out after. Now the oil pressure comes up quick since its "primed"...
