Crank pulley trick?

I have never R&R'd the pulley on an LS BUT the LT1 hubs are a press fit too and what I do to help get them on far enough to get the bolt engaged is to warm it up. I boil the hub in a pot of water because I figure it wont go over 212f that way and I am sure the timing cover seal can handle that temp. If you are quick you can then slide it on a ways enough that the bolt engages anyway.

For the most part , the problem with suggesting procedures other than the by the book methods is not everyone is as skilled with Their hands as They would need to be to pull off "other" methods and so ultimately f_ck things up like Their crankshaft ,,,,,,,,,,hell even with natural mechanical abilities and lots of experience something can still go awry ,,,,,,,,having said that using the by the book methods are usually always going to be the safest for everyone .
Yes a similar variation for pressed lower ball joints ,,,,,,,,,put the new ones in freezer for 6 or 8 hours and They'll go 1/3 of the way in by hand and quickly put the b-joint press on and They'll easily go all the way in a few seconds
