Default Checking Pushrod length

Well putting together the the 6.0 and I want to make sure my Preload is right so I don't end up bashing parts that are from user error so with the the adjustable pushrod length checker, Do you install everything get your rocker torqued then find 0 lash then add the .060-.080 for the preload?? I just want this to be right because of the RPM's i'll be turning

And have someone old school telling me about Adjustable pushrods and sounds like a weak point, Bad design, Don't even know if they make em for LS motors

Guess this is more for lifter preload vs getting the right pushrods

Pretty easy. Lengthen/shorten the pushrod until the rocker is at zero lash when torqued down. Then pull out the pushrod and count the turns to figure out its length. Then add however much preload you want and you got your pushrod length. Comp pushrods come in 0.025" increments so you can get near what you're looking for.

There is no need to torque the rocker bolt. Just snug it down. Make sure you are not on the lobe when you measure and measure two or three times to make sure you have it right.

I thought that too until I measured preload with a dial indicator and saw that torquing the rocker past snug can add another 0.005-0.010" of preload. Probably not enough to notice using an adjustable pushrod however.

If you have the same checker as listed here:
http://www.texas-speed.com/p-275-com...h-checker.aspx
Each turn will equate to .050". We walk alot of our customers through this process daily, so when you get to the point where you need to measure, feel free to give us a call, we will be glad to help (even if you didn't get the parts from us)...

lol...Yea, youre right, there is some room for error. Your gauge alone could have that much error not to mention the pushrods you buy. I also agree, (+-).001" of pre-load is nothing to worry about.
