Default Possible good news on the LS2 engine part compatibility

I managed to get close enough to shoot some pics of the new Corvette at the Houston Auto show. You can go to Corvette forum and look at my thread with all the pictures. CF creates a thumbnail of the photos, as the pictures themselves are very large (2560x1950). If you click on the thumbnail, you will be taken to the big pic (and I do mean BIG).

Anyhow, I managed to get up close to the Convertible and shoot a few engine compartment pics. Notice this pic of the motor. The head on the LS2 in that car is a 243 casting (LS6). This would indicate to me inititally that the new intake, and most importantly the LS2 block should be compatible with current LS1/LS6 cars...

Here is the pic.

http://users3.ev1.net/~black_ops/c6/DSC00420.JPG

Also, I shot some pics of the new intake. The bolt pattern is the same as the FAST 90MM. So, TB swapping between a FAST and a GM intake should be cool also.

Prepare to raid the parts bin...

J-Rod I think you should make that pic a tad larger so people on Pluto can see it too...

Hey, I warned you... Don't blame me, I shot them in super-duper Hi-Res so I could zoom in and see details. I didn't have a lot of time to get up there and shoot underhood photos...

The intake bolts right on. On a 346 road race engine it made 17 more hp.The gains were all above 5000 rpm. The stock throttlebody is 90mm. The connector for the throttlebody is 6 wire without external throttle position sensor. We are going to take one apart to see if it will adapt to a old corvette but it does not look good.

Better have fun while it last, because in '07 the LS3 will have some radical changes.

that is interesting

What is the bolt setup like for the throttle body on the intake?

Same as FAST or TPIS or something completely different? Wouldnt be too hard to retrofit a 90mm throttle body to it

Sweet! What's the TB bolt pattern look like on the intake? Is it simular to the FAST stuff?

Just thinking of a cross over cable operated TB..

It has a 4 bolt pattern. the std ls throttle body lower 2 bolts go in then the upper is the problem. Looks like it will be easy to build adapter's.

Had not really thought about it. We could do it if a market is there.

The intake manifold looks huge. It looks like it might not fit in an F-body.
