Ordering gasket kit lifters and trays today have some questions.
So am gonna be ordering these parts to finish up my parts list on my cam swap. I will be getting the gasket kit from texas speed and lifters from summit. Also, if sopmeone can point me in the correct direction for some cheap lifter trays i would appreciate. One more question on trays, does it matter what type i get? should i get the ls1 trays or ls2 trays?
I am wondering however, my car is a 98, i will be putting some 241's on there to replace the 803's, so my question is should i order a gasket kit for 99+? I read somewhere about the head gaskets being different? Does anyone know if texas speed offers price matching?
When these parts come in i will have everything ready for cam swap and i should have it ready to go in a couple weeks. super pumped.
parts list as follows:
TR 224 114lsa
7.4 comp cams puish rods
brian tooley dual spring kit
241's
ls7 lifters
gasket kits
ls6 pump
ls2 chain

I'm using LS2 trays for my Ls7 lifters. Got them from WS6 store for $7.99. You need to order four of them. They do free shipping on orders over $100. Not sure on your other questions.

You will not find "LS1" lifter trays, lifters, or a timing chain unless they are NOS or used. The "LS2" tray and chain are the current GM design for GEN III LS engines. The same goes for LS7 lifters. They no longer make the lifters that came stock in the LS1.
If you go to the GM parts counter and ask for new parts for your LS1, you will get the LS2 tray, the LS2 chain, and the LS7 lifters without asking.
As for where to buy them, I suggest 1 place. TSP is a good one. You save a dollar here and there on cost by shopping around, but shipping usually evens it out. TSP may price match, but you will have to call in and ask.
Are you sure you will need 7.4" pushrods?
