Question Another LQ9 Build, Input Needed.

After reading all the great 6.0 builds I am going to jump on the wagon . With that said, I would like to get some opinions on what I should or shouldn't do. I am wanting to transplant a 6.0 into my 95 Firechicken when complete. It will mainly be used for Street/Show and the occasional track trip.

So far I have a 2005 LQ9 from a Cadillac Escalade with 95,xxx miles. I have not touched this engine since purchasing from the salvage yard. I would like to make at least 450rwhp(more would be even better ). I would like to think this is possible with what I have, if not, then build on to what I have.

With all the setups floating around on the net, I don't know which way to go with it. This is were this thread comes in.........

Your input is appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Should I go ahead and freshen up the lower end or leave it alone?

If the motor is already out I would. No point throwing a high mile motor in to have it break and then do all the work again. Do it right the first time.

Should I stick with the 317 heads or look for something else? Intake suggestions?

The LS6 intake usually gets replaced with a FAST 92 or 102 by the time they
reach your desired power level. Check this link for your head upgrade.......

This guy can match you a cam or you can try EPS or TICK for a healthy grind

243's with a vj, mid 230's cam, and an ls6 intake will meet your goals

I left mine alone and my engine had the same mileage as yours... the bottom end in these engines(lq4/lq9) are very strong.

Thanks for the replies guys! I want to get all my ducks in a row before I get started. Like anyone, I want to build it with the least amount of money in it to get the power I am looking for. But on the other hand, if I need to spend it I will.

The more threads I read from others builds the more confused I am.

Yea I wouldn't bother messing with bottom end unless you wanna spend the cash to do it right...I would slap some 243s on to raise comp, get and ls6 intake, and a decent sized cam along with other boltons and you will be damn close to your goal with a good tune.
