Are you asking which one CI is better to do with the ls1 block, a 383 or a 408? If so I dont think the ls1 block car go no more than 396ci. So 383 is gonna have to be your choice unless you re sleeve the block

Yea the ls1 max is 383 I was wondering it the 6.0/370 is just as good as a 383 performance and driveability

I love my motor, if I did more daily driving with it, I would have done a more streetable cam than the t56, can't always be driving around at 7k rpm,

on something bigger than a 383, I did see a kit that installed spacers between the heads and block, and sleeved, made it 500 cu. in. wouldn't suggest it, but bigger disp. kits are out there.

It's all in the build quality and parts used. Cubes alone don't make an engine have better driveability than another. You can make a 383 drive better than a 408 and you can make a 408 drive better than a 383.

If the 408 can't make the same power with better driveability, something is wrong.

the 6.0/370 short block with the bigger bore can utilize a ls3 head for a little more power.you can't beat a free block for doing the ls383 stroker.
