Default Good street torque cam suggestions

I am looking for suggestions on a cam for my LS1 powered 1970 corvette. The criteria are:

Very lopey idle (It has to sound like a muscle car).
Good low to midrange torque.
I plan on installing 4.11 or 4.33 gears (currently 3.36), but don't want to have to rev to the moon.
Little to no track time, mostly street driven.

Currently stock heads, maybe move to GMPP CNC LS6 heads in the future. 34-36" long tubes in progress.

I was considering the ASA cam, but am open to suggestions.

thanks

A good all around cam is the TR224. It's not the biggest or lopiest (is that a word?) but it does sound good and performs. I got 373HP and 381TQ after dyno tuning with the mods in my sig. It's great in a daily driver. Just my $.02.

Try the f4, I just finished installing mine and it sounds awsome with kooks headers.

I have heard a lot of good things about the TR224. How would it be on a 110 LSA?

Maybe even the hotcam? No intent get the hotcam cheerleader squad going, but it's a good budget cam that fulfills all your requirements

Any of the 224 to 228 XER lobe cams would do real well, stick with a single pattern on a 112lsa or 111lsa, and if your not gonna run BIG nitrous (150+), you can probably sneak a little more midrange in with a reverse split, something like a 228/224. I agree with everyone else that a 224 grind would be exactly what your looking for, every 224 camshaft will perform the same, just make sure you get decent valvesprings and pushrods with your package.

I'm sure you know, but a little PCM tuning won't hurt either.

Another vote for the TR224/112. A huge bump in low-end and mid-range over the stock cam and it pulls very well up top.

BTW I also have a 70 SS396 Chevelle at home. I would be very tempted to go to the Futral 230/232 112LSA and TEA Stg 2.5 LS6 heads. 450 rwhp should be very doable

Run a search someone tried a 224/224 on a 110LSA 106 ICL(?)

The MTI T1 is a great cam, but it's not very lopey.

TR224 on a 112LSA lopes more than a T1, but I'm guessing not quite enough for what you're looking for.

No doubt the GM HotCam lopes like hell and makes decent power.

My TR230 lopes pretty decent, but it's not as streetable as the TR224.

I like the idea of a "custom" TR224 on a 110LSA to give it some more lope.

There are a whole lot of things you can do on the tuning side to make it "lopey".

Hell, if you want it lopey, run it on 106.

I have the FMS F4 and love the way it lopes. Makes good power and is very streetable.

Thanks guys.

I think I might go with the TR 224 on a 110 LSA route.

Jeff, another option may be the same I'm doing in my Corvette. I had basically the same criteria.

Jim and Tom at Speed Inc. put their heads together and came up with this to optimize torque and get the power in the best range for street/road course driving and give me the 'racecar' sound required for a Grand Sport Corvette replica.

I bought a Comp custom grind cam @ 228/236 - .588/.602 - 110+2 lsa. Requires dual springs and hardened pushrods but so do most good cams.

Those numbers seem close to the ASA cam with more lift and 2* advance. Does that +2 move the peak lower in RPM?

Jeff, give me a call or send an e-mail if you're interested.....I have a brand new never installed camshaft that I think will fit your needs and I'll make you an excellent buy on it!
