Another vote for the TR224. Amazing how much the lope changes with PCM tunning. If you want lope, you can tune for it with this cam, even on a 114. You can also tune most of the lope out if desired. The great thing about this cam is you don't sacrifice any low rpm performace to get the great midrange and high end that it has.

How can you tune to get more lope and not have a crappy tune?

Yeah, I should of thought of that. I used to lower the idle with the old 350 in the vette just to get a little more lope.

with those gears are you sure you want a ton of low end?

Might want to go for 2500-6500rpm range for power

230/230 112LSA 0 advance gave me more HP/TQ EVERYWHERE compared to a MTI B1

Thumbs up Good Torque Cam!

On my previous setup on the '99 TA, I had MTI stage 2 heads & C2 cam with FLP headers, 3.73 in a 10-bolt and all the bolt-ons. It made 421rwhp/401rwtq at the peaks, but the overall graph was awesome!

Torque curve was fat, 360 ft.lbs. @ 3000rpms, 381 ft.lbs. @ 3500rpms, 392 ft.lbs. @ 4000rpms, 391 ft.lbs. @ 4500, 401 ft.lbs. @ 4800rpms, 394 ft.lbs. @ 5000rpms, 386 ft.lbs. @ 5500 rpms, & 362 ft.lbs. @ 6000rpms.

If you want to see the dyno graph of that combo, just go to MTI's website and click on Fbodies, then click on engines and scroll down to the dyno for a stage 2 H/C package.

Another guy ran essentially the C2 with XE-R lobes, but on a 110lsa and had a fatter torque curve than mine. He was making 370 ft.lbs. @ 3000rpms!!! I think the peak torque was 409.

Nice! I looked at the graph and indeed the area under the curve is respectable. It's curious that there aren't more that go the route of these "medium" size cams and good ported heads. It seems it's common to identify a result like that, and I'm sure it's backed up by real track numbers.

I JUST INSTALLED THE ASA CAM AND IT MAKES GOOD POWER. IF YOU PLAN ON RUNNING THE GMPP LS6 HEADS I WOULD DEFINITELY GET THIS CAM. IT LOPES LIKE CRAZY AND SOUNDS LIKE A MUSCLE CAR. IT PULLS VERY HARD ON THE STREET AND YOU WONT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT CHANGING YOUR VALVESPRINGS EVERY YEAR. GET SOME COMP 918s AND YOUR GOOD TO GO.

Jeff, I went through the same dilemma a few months ago when I was trying to decide on a cam. Between all of these guys here and the engine builder, I decided that the TR224-112 fit what I wanted. I'll let you know what I think as soon as I fire it up. (BTW, I think you can only get it on 112 or 114 LCAs.) Check out Thunder Racing on the right side of the screen for more details on their cam kits. They come with everything that you need (Comp 918 springs, hardened pushrods, etc).

No track means all street. I would go with a 3:73 max, get that top speed up!
No track also means no sticky tires and less traction. Especialy if you stay in the 224 range cam with a 110 lsa (Lower power band, less rpm)
Ideally 3:55 would be best but that is FORD
But again that's me.

Oh and BTW you can get it 110lsa, that would be a "custom order"

So now I am torn between the ASA cam and a TR224 on a 110LSA. I already have a set of 02 LS6 valvesprings laying on the bench and I would have to get 918's or comparable with the TR224. I must say I am leaning towards the ASA right now.

Predator, I see your point about the gears. I guess I could go with 3.70's instead of the 4.33. I think there is something in the 3.9x range for the old vettes too. Hmmm, what to do?

Right, and you can also keep the stock idle timing or knock off a couple more degrees (only 1200 rpm and below to avoid having a "bad tune".) That will give it more lope also. One thing I've noticed is I get a lot more lope before the PCM goes into closed loop.
