6.0 motor question

I just picked a " no miles"shortblock up and when i got it home i noticed that 1 3 5 7. Valve reliefs were cracked and number 5 and 7 had a ringland failure. No damage to the block thankfully...the guy sent me four pistons, rings and rods and apologized a millions times.. I have no idea what could have caused it. ..btw everything looks like new as it was listed..he said it was started to bring up oil pressure then shut down....any help???

BTW its an iron block lq9 with aftermarket pistons

Sounds like they installed pistons and didn't size the bore correctly. I would pull it totally down and throughy inspect the block. Mag it and mag it again.

I just tore the shortblock down...im goin to take it to my local machine shop and have them check all the cylinders....Im telling you its a miracle that i dont have a trashed cylinder...two of those pistons came apart..
