Default Will I need to flycut? (EPS Cam, TEA 5.3 Heads)

I'm buying some TEA 5.3 Stage 1.5 heads from a friend of mine and I'm curious if I'm going to need to flycut valve reliefs. They are 59cc chambers, 2.02 intake, 1.55 exhaust. My current cam specs are 230/234 .600/.602 112+4 LSA. I'm running 7.425" pushrods and I'm planning on swapping those over, I plan to run the factory rockers as well.

These heads were previously on an LS1 with an SI6 cam. He flycut the pistons with his setup. The SI6 is a larger cam than what I'm running (235/240 .643/.609 111 LSA). I know the correct way is to measure, but I'm just trying to get a feel for what I'm going to need to do to get these to work.

Thanks

def gonna be close. especially with the larger intake valves. i'd buy an adjustable timing chain and retard your cam a bit and run a MLS gasket

59 cc for a 5.3 casting means they haven't been milled a bunch.....IIRC 58 cc
is about where they start so the CNC process probably adds a few then a
small clean up cut on the surface. The larger valve hurts your clearance with
the factory pistons but with the factory MLS gaskets you should be close but
fine. Most cam-only guys laugh at the .080"/.100" rule of thumb for clearance.
I'm not saying "don't measure" but rather if you end up I'd guess around .050"
on the intake...let her eat. Another suggestion is to call TEA and explain your
combo to Mike for his explanation on where the valve-drop position is on that
particular cylinder head.....GL2YA

I have a set of TEA 5.3 1.5 heads w/ a EPS 226/230 cam and had to flycut. My heads were 59cc and i used a GM MLS .051 gasket. After talking to Geoff@EPS he said that TEA sometimes drops the intake valve down some to increase flow.

I don't remember what my measurements were before but Geoff said .060 on the intake valve is a a little tight but works just fine.
