Default 5.3 Truck Cam Question

I am re-posting this from the truck side since I haven't had much luck.

I've done allot of searching and comeback with allot of information but still Left with some burning questions.
My current set-up is a 2001 Silverado 5.3L 4X4 W/ LTs and 1 cat (but will be changed to have dual cats), intake, Tune, 20" GM wheels, 3.73 gears and 160K miles. Here is my dyno chart in 2006, with about 90-95K miles

I had never given much thought to cams until recently and I think it is the perfect solution to my desire for more power and will tide me over for a bit.

I would like 20-50 more HP, Make good power and torque through-out the rpm range, maintian some resemblance of reliability and Gas MPG. I also want to Idle semi-smoothly. I am not too sure yet if this truck will go back to DD duty or will stay as a every couple weeks weekend hauling duty.

I've only ridden in one truck with a cam and I don't know the specs. It was an 04 2wd, when we raced it got me on the whole-shot but then I was even paced with it.
I don't plan on a Stall until the tranny goes, but with the added power that will probably sooner then later. Also I will use the power most out on the Hwy.

These are the cams I am looking at:
TR TRuTorq Level 1 - 219/224 .609/.604 115 LSA
TR 220-112" - 220/220 .551/.551 112 LSA or 114
TR 224-112" - 224/224 .563/.563 112 LSA or 114
Texas Speed 220R 220/220 .581"/.581" Sleeper Camshaft
Texas Speed 224R 224/224 .581"/.581" Camshaft
Texas Speed 228R 228/228 .588"/.588" Camshaft
Comp 273LR HR12 54-457-11 - LSR
Comp 269LR HR12 54-456-11 - LSR

I am lost on the 112 vs 114 and I know I will need new pushrods and springs, but I am lost on which springs to go with.

Do any of these cams require fuel system upgrades?

I would go with the Comp 54-455-11 camshaft with the 26926 springs. Then your stock TC will work. Headers should be installed with high flow cats. Your fuel system & injectors are more than adequate.

Also the LSL lobed LSR cams are quiet.

Thanks! I have a Single hi-flow cat now, but It isn't doing a great job. I found a set up I like and will allow the clearance I need. Just got to get the parts ordered, magnaflow hi-flow cats.

LSL?

LSL is the name of the lobes used on the LSR camshafts. And use long tube headers, not shorty's.

Id highly recommend you get your heads ported an milled, and I'd go with a smaller cam around the size of the EPS TT1.

Crane, and also Cam Motion have some nice cam that should work good for you.

Yes that EPS cam would also be a good choice, but get it on a 112 LSA. And I see that the OP has LT headers.

I actually just ordered a custom EPS cam today for my 418. Geoff knows what he's doing.

I have shaved heads and a Comp 265 cam (212*/218* .522/.529 on 114*) and it is probably the best cam I could have ever installed. More low end than a 6.2, it screams up top (they have a higher lift as well for even more HP) and was real easy to tune. I used the low lift since I already had LS6 springs laying around for free.

Another very popular 5.3 truck cam is the Cam Motion 212*/218* on 113*+4*...IIRC.

I wouldn't hesitate to do it all over again! It has a very slight lope at idle in park or neutral, none in gear.

Thank guys!, Yes I do have Long tubes, seems like either the 265LR (54-455-11) or 265HR (54-424-11)are popular cams. The cams I had listed before were all popular ones I had seen on performancetrucks. I noticed that the 265LR (54-455-11) has a smaller intake duration then any of the ones I had listed, but the lift is greater. But the 265HR has about the same lift, but smaller duration. The 265LR is listed on the Comp site as cam for the 4.8/5.3, where the 265HR is listed for the LS6. As a newb to cam specs, what is the advantage to the higher lift but less duration of the 265LR. Also what leads to the lope that many people want? (duration, vs lope, vs. etc.)

What kind of HP boost did you see?

As far as porting my heads, my long term goals are to drop in an LSX, but it will be a year or 2 before I can gather everything I need or have the time to really work on it.
